SHOP LABORER

The shop laborer will report directly to the shop supervisor and/or Equipment manager. If on job sites, the laborer will report to the foreman and/or superintendent. Laborer is responsible for operating and maintaining various types of earth moving and general construction equipment, and general shop and yard maintenance.

Hourly: $19-$25 per hour

Job Responsibilities

• Shop maintenance (Sweep, dump trash, clean windows)
• Yard maintenance (Weeds, mow grass, keep trash picked up, clean fuel island)
• Wash Equipment/Vehicles with a pressure washer
• Detail Equipment
• Parts stocking and inventory
• Seasonal snow removal
• Proper use of correct PPE, Follow all safety procedures
• Occasional driver for parts pick up in company vehicles

Requirements

• Possess a desire to learn and be coachable
• Must be detail orientated
• Must be able to work in a high-production, high stress environment
• Must be self-reliant and self-sufficient
• Should be able to effectively communicate with team members and management
• Maintain a constant state of safety awareness
• Follow all PPE and safety protocols
• Valid driver’s license
• Clean driving record
• High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Demands

• Requires full range of body motion including: operating levers or controls, climbing ladders, manual finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
• Requires use of foot-controlled pedals
• Occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Requires working under stressful conditions
• Requires the ability to operate large equipment in rough terrain
• Jarring and jolting is common during equipment operation

Working Conditions

• Frequent exposure to rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, cold noise & other conditions common to a construction site
• May require irregular hours, out-of-town work, overnight stays, nights, weekends, and holidays
• May require working in trench conditions
