SHOP LABORER
The shop laborer will report directly to the shop supervisor and/or Equipment manager. If on job sites, the laborer will report to the foreman and/or superintendent. Laborer is responsible for operating and maintaining various types of earth moving and general construction equipment, and general shop and yard maintenance.
Hourly: $19-$25 per hour
Job Responsibilities
- Shop maintenance (Sweep, dump trash, clean windows)
- Yard maintenance (Weeds, mow grass, keep trash picked up, clean fuel island)
- Wash Equipment/Vehicles with a pressure washer
- Detail Equipment
- Parts stocking and inventory
- Seasonal snow removal
- Proper use of correct PPE, Follow all safety procedures
- Occasional driver for parts pick up in company vehicles
Requirements
- Possess a desire to learn and be coachable
- Must be detail orientated
- Must be able to work in a high-production, high stress environment
- Must be self-reliant and self-sufficient
- Should be able to effectively communicate with team members and management
- Maintain a constant state of safety awareness
- Follow all PPE and safety protocols
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent
Physical Demands
- Requires full range of body motion including: operating levers or controls, climbing ladders, manual finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
- Requires use of foot-controlled pedals
- Occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Requires working under stressful conditions
- Requires the ability to operate large equipment in rough terrain
- Jarring and jolting is common during equipment operation
Working Conditions
- Frequent exposure to rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, cold noise & other conditions common to a construction site
- May require irregular hours, out-of-town work, overnight stays, nights, weekends, and holidays
- May require working in trench conditions
