HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
Job Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain equipment
- Earth moving, ditching, trenching and hoisting
- Perform equipment pre and post inspections
- Understand plan grades as required
- Distinguish between material types and moisture content of various soil types
- Maintain a clean cab
- Use hand tools as required
- Attend and participate in daily and/or weekly safety meeting
- Participate in toolbox safety meetings and daily stretch and bend activities
- Perform construction related work as required
- Consistent attendance
Working Conditions
- Frequent exposure to rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, cold, noise and other conditions common to a construction site
- May require irregular hours, out of town work, overnight stays, nights, weekends, and holidays
- May require working in safe trench conditions
Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Ability to pass and maintain pre-employment and drug screenings
- Ability to pass an pre-employment physical
- Ability to pass work history verification
- Ability to life and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Positive and safe work history
- Reliable means of transportation to and from assigned projects
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and operating levers or controls
- Climbing, manual and finger dexterity including eye-hand coordination
- Use of foot controls and pedals
- Requires good or corrected vision and hearing within normal range
- Requires ability to operate large equipment in rough terrain
- Ability to follow directions
- Ability to understand and follow safety guidelines
Experience
- Preference for individuals with experience in Heavy Civil Construction
